JANUARY
Generous Grant from Gould Foundation
The Joseph B. Gould Foundation released a generous grant of
$10,000 to The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection in January.
The foundation has been a regular supporter of the Elizabeth
Center over the years, and we are extremely grateful for their
continuing faith in the importance of our mission.
FEBRUARY
Appointment of New Fundraising Director
Cynthia V. Bradley has been named new Director of Fundraising
and Public Relations. She has an extensive background in fundraising
with non-profits such as The Los Angeles Master Chorale, Friends
of the Joffrey, the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and
the Junior League of Pasadena.
Challenge Grant from Lockheed Martin Aero
Club
The Lockheed Martin Aero Club has issued a $10,000 challenge
to The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection, to be met by
June 30, 2005. The funds raised will help in the purchase
of a high-frequency small parts probe and a breast biopsy
excision system and console to enhance our existing ultrasound
system.
MARCH
New Executive Committee, Board of Directors
Mason Hohl, Chairman of the Board of Directors and son of
the late founder of the Elizabeth Center, announced the new
roster of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors
for The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection. They are as
follows:
· President: Warner Backstrom
· Vice President: Robert Harrison
· Treasurer: Miguel Oliver
· Secretary: Darlene Kuba

APRIL
The first newsletter in over ten years was released to our
main supporters this month, with a focus on reinvigorating
The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection’s fundraising
programs. Proceeds from responses to this newsletter are earmarked
for meeting the challenge from Lockheed Martin.
MAY
Spring Event and Fundraiser
The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection will hold a cocktail
party on Wednesday, May 25 (from 6 – 8 p.m.) to celebrate
the close of our Diamond Jubilee Year, and to kick off the
